Dr. Lawlis is a founder of the Lawlis-Peavy clinic. He specializes in treating individuals suffering from neurological issues.
Dr. Frank Lawlis is nationally recognized and an authority in treating Attention Deficit Disorder. Dr. Lawlis is also a best-selling author and has done pioneering work in areas of pain management, addiction treatment, and new methods to treat ADD.
CURRENT WORK
Dr. Lawlis serves as the Principal Content Adviser to the Dr. Phil television program. He reviews background information and behavioral histories for guests considered for appearance on the show. He maintains an ongoing personal and professional relationship with Dr. Phil McGraw. Dr. Phil describes Lawlis as, "a superb scientist as well as a truly caring human being."
Dr. Lawlis focuses upon clinical and research methods of the mind and body relationship. In 1968 he received his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology focusing on medical psychology and rehabilitation. He received the Diplomate (A.B.P.P.) Award in both Counseling Psychology and Clinical Psychology. He also received the status of Fellow from the American Psychological Association for his scientific contributions to the field of clinical psychology and behavioral medicine. He also has numerous other awards for his pioneering research in this field.
Dr. Lawlis has served on the medical school faculties of the University of Texas Health Center at San Antonio and Dallas, New York Medical Center, Texas Tech Medical School and Stanford Medical School. He directed and documented new studies and various approaches to the care of patients with chronic and acute pain, cancer and psychosomatic problems.
Dr. Lawlis is also the supervisory psychologist for American Mensa - a national organization whose members must score 98 percent or above on an accepted standardized intelligence test.
AUTHOR
Dr. Lawlis has authored and co-authored six books: Imagery and Disease, Transpersonal Medicine, Bridges of the Bodymind, Caregivers Guide to the Cure: The Hero's Journey with Cancer, Complementary and Alternative Medicine Management: Forms and Guidelines, and Mosby's Complementary and Alternative Medicine: A Research Based Approach.He has written more than 100 articles and chapters in various publications.
Dr. Lawlis developed the BAUD, or Bio Acoustical Utilzation Device as a treatment for ADD symptoms primarily for children. He later discovered that the BAUD was effective on other neurological issues. He then began the FDA approval process to make the BAUD's benefits available to the general public. |
